Abecedarium: The Art of the Alphabet

EVT505824

Ongoing event running from: Mon May 27, 2024 - Sat Aug 24, 2024

Location

Lillian H. Smith

Something wonderful happens when letters become art! From an early hornbook to creative interpretations of letters and language in modern times, the simple structure of the alphabet inspires works that are playful, engaging, and profound. This exhibit of abecedaria ("alphabet books") explores the intricacy of something "as easy as ABC" and shows the basis of our communication and learning are as meaningful as they are complex.

Free. All are welcome.

Located in the Osborne Collection of Early Children's Books, on the 4th floor of the Lillian H. Smith Branch.

The exhibit can be viewed during the Osborne Collection's open hours.
