Summary/Review: Toronto has been called the Estonian capital abroad, because it is where the largest and most active community of Estonian immigrants was located. Revolutionary in its architecture and social aims, modernism?s post-war emergence was at odds with the cautious, evolutionary nature of Canadian culture. But in the context of growing internationalism, a large number of Estonians began to find success in private practice, influencing Toronto?s cultural landscape and new ideas in architectural discourse.
