Using the Library

We continue to recover from a cybersecurity incident that disrupted all library systems and technology.

Restoring systems and services across 100 library branches is a complex undertaking. Full and safe recovery is a gradual process, and we're working to ensure full restoration as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued patience. For information about service restoration, read the most recent library service update.

Library cards

New cards

To register for a library card, bring identification with your name and address to any library location. Check the list of identification requirements before going into a branch.

Digital Access Card

We're currently unable to process new Digital Access Cards at this time.

Expired cards and card renewal

At this time, we’re able to process card renewals in branch only. Online card renewal is unavailable. Library cards, including non-resident and Digital Access Cards, won't expire during this time, which means you can continue to borrow physical items and access digital services.

Lost library cards

If your card has been lost or stolen, immediately contact your local branch by phone or in person.
