Experience the traditional art of the Japanese tea ceremony. Learn about Japanese culture and the important philosophy behind the tea ceremony. This presentation not only offers a demonstration of traditional Matcha preparation using authentic tools, but zen philosophies which may also apply to daily life. Discover how Matcha is harvested, its history, how to make/use it, how to differenciate between different grades, and how to conserve it.
Reina Sakao is a fourth-generation tea house and Urasenke tea instructor who trained at the Urasenke School in Japan where her family owns and operates a tea plantation in Shizuoka. Reina has over 10 years of experience with the Japanese tea ceremony (second-degree Urasenke tea ceremony instructor).
