About the exhibit

Sweeping vistas, historical landmarks, Toronto streetscapes and captivating portraits take centre stage in this exhibition of art preserved by TPL. Get a rare glimpse of long-held treasures and new acquisitions from our Canadian Documentary Art Collection. These artworks show the depth and breadth of the collection, and our changing — yet familiar — environments.

You'll also discover some of the remarkable behind-the-scenes work that goes into maintaining our historical, rare and unique pieces for future generations and current visitors.

The Canadian Documentary Art Collection is part of our Baldwin Collection of Canadiana, one of the largest research collections of Canadian historical material. It contains over one million items, with primary sources from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
