A Passion for History: The Legacy of James Bain

About the Exhibit

James Bain, Toronto Public Library's first Chief Librarian, was instrumental in developing the Library's Collection of rare Canadiana. As a collector in his own right, Bain also amassed a remarkable personal collection.

The newly renovated TD Gallery celebrates the legacy of James Bain with an exhibition of maps, prints and books, many of them recently donated to the Library by the Bain family.
